The Hydro-Pond filter utilizes reticulated filter foam. It provides both mechanical and biological filtration. Aerobic bacteria colonizes the sponges, providing an bacterial substrate to facilitate the nitrogen cycle. In addition, the hydro pond traps larger waste particles, mechanically cleaning the water.
